Myriam Lefkowitz
Practising Attention
Saturday 28 October 2017
‘Et sait-on jamais dans une obscurité pareille?’
Saturday 28 October 2017, 2pm / La Ferme du Buisson, Noisiel
On Saturday 28 October the artist Myriam Lefkowitz will present Et sait-on jamais dans une obscurité pareille? (How can one know in such darkness?) with her collaborators Jean Philippe Derail, Ghyslaine Gau, Thierry Grapotte, Catalina Insignares, Julie Laporte, Florian Richaud and Yasmine Youcef at La Ferme du Buisson, Paris.
The presentation extends Lefkowitz’s research on issues of attention, sensation and perception through which she is developing various immersive devices that provoke encounters between choreographic artists and spectators. Through these, Lefkowitz creates the conditions for an increased perceptual experience through the use of gaze, touch, walking, and liminal states between sleep and waking.
This performance is one of a series of public meetings, which put into practice the research that Myriam Lefkowitz has been conducting during her three-month residency at La Ferme du Buisson extending across the period 18 September–30 December 2017, and which will be further developed within her work with If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution and Bulegoa z/b.
Alongside Corpus, network for performance practice the presentation and residency at La Ferme du Buisson is presented with the support of Drac Île-de-France – Ministère de la Culture, Conseil régional d'Île-de-France.
