‘Illusion of Matter’
On Thursday 3 November 2015, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa presented the first in a cycle of new performances, which attempt to exhaust his interest in the Guatemalan Civil War as a recurring subject of his work. Presented within BMW Tate Live: Performance Room—the Tate Modern’s online platform for performance—Ramírez-Figueroa’s work, Illusion of Matter, was streamed online to audiences across the world via the Tate’’s website (www.tate.org.uk) and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/tate) live at 8pm (GMT) and after the event, the performance was followed by a live Q&A between Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa and curator Catherine Wood.
Illusion of Matter (2015) was commissioned by Tate Modern and performed and recorded on 3 December 2015 in their BMW Tate Live: Performance Room.
